Dear Georgy Boy,
Thank you very much for changing the game (HAHAHA SEE WHAT I DID THERE). Your nerd brain is exquisite!!!! You have somehow found the formula that reaches far beyond that of any normal medium. You have also given me a world that I would love to live in (Before winter comes of course) and compete with these degenerates for the Iron throne. I don’t believe I have ever been Jealous of a woman, but when you give her 3 badass dragons it gets the job done. You have also killed off everyone I have ever loved in your books, which is sad, but I know you’re a punishing god and I dare not question your divinity. The useless sex scenes are awesome and you obviously know what we like……boobs without purpose.

GAME OF THRONES IS AWESOME!!!!!!!
Even if you don’t like fantasy, you have to appreciate what Game of Thrones is, Game of Thrones is Inspired Brilliance.
The world that George R. R. Martin has crated is so fleshed out and so rich it can only be rivaled by that of Tolkien’s Middle Earth. But unlike Lord of The Rings, George R. R. Martin focused mainly on Political intrigue, Conspiracy, War, and Boobs. Because of the deep characterization, it has in turn given the world of “A song of Ice and Fire” a soul. Its a living, breathing place, where the good guy doesnt always win. As a matter of fact if a character has integrity they usually get the axe.
Game of Thrones is not “High Fantsy”. It is fantasy based in reality. He gives you just enough lore, magic, and dragons to keep you interested, but after a while it’s the characters that keep you coming back.
Most fantasy authors can fall in to laziness just like any other author can. Set piece A, followed by Magical B, throw in some Monsters C, and put them in a blender. This is not that. This is an actual world with a rich History and backstory, a place, that for all intents and purposes, actually does exist in the mind of George R.R. McAwesomeHat.
Big plot lines, and smaller sub-plots, happen naturally and are distinct from one another. And even though it’s a lengthy read it’s not wothout reason. It’s building a foundation, a connection to a character that may or may-not die in the next page.
It’s simply brilliant.
Game of Thrones is a smash hit for a reason……It’s art, not fodder or nerd trash.
I do understand that fantasy is not for everyone, but Game of Thrones is a good starter course to finding the Dork within you. It has even turned people who don’t read in to vicious book worms. That’s a hard thing to accomplish in a day and age of TL;DR’s (Too long Didn’t Read). It has also proven that if the source material is good enough, and the adaptation of said material is done with love and care, then anything can be successful.
Plus there are Dragons and Boobs, which is rad.
