The Coachella Blues………….sort of….kind of….maybe

coachella-sold-out
This weekend, the Coachella Music and Arts Festival kicks off for it's 1st weekend and this year, I'm a little bummed I won't be there. The station hooked up a bunch of people this year and based on the lineup, this year should be one of the biggest, if not the biggest one yet. You have MUSE, Bastille, Outkast, AFI, Queens of the Stone Age, the Cult, Lorde, Foster the People, and so many artists I want to see this year. Now, we all know the price of Coachella every year, and with this year's lineup, in a sense, it's a little justfied. If you were going to do one concert this year, I say this is the one to do. And yes, I've been, yes, I know about the heat, I know the traffic nightmares and everything that goes along with hitting Coachella, So, next year, I would say 'go' and also recommend camping, here's the pros and cons

Pros

  • You're already on site everyday. You don't have to wait in the massive car lines or massive people lines to get in. You're there, you're ready. Wake up and just go start the day
  • You've got a place to leave your stuff so you don't have to carry it around all day. Though not everyone may be 'happy, go lucky' at Coachella and its a little hard to lock a tent, unless you just transport it to the car everyday to lock it up
  • The lineup. Every year, the best lineup for any festival anywhere. Very few other festivals are able to get as an electic lineup of established bands, new bands, undiscovered bands, DJ's, etc. This alone is the main reason to be a part of it at least once in your concert going life

Cons

  • Smells awful
  • Terrible facilities
  • Cramped. Not crazy bad, but it can get a little much if you want more personal space than you have at the time
  • Unbearably hot with really no way to cool off
  • Sharing a room with about 1000 other people at any given time
It really is a 'once in a lifetime' experience, that again, everyone should do at least once, and experience everything about it. The bands, the camping, the desert, the heat, the communial aspect, everything. So maybe I'll be the one asking you for a beer next year, or maybe even a bar of soap. Or at least some kind of body spray to try and somewhat avoid the BO I may or may not be rocking at the time.
