Elli-torial: The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

Over 200 days of waiting. As the seasons begin to change and the summer heat begins to settle into fall, we get the return of sports bliss. After getting the Week 1 of the NCAAF appetizer, it is now time that we move on to the main course.

Football is BACK.

From unretiring GOATS, new beginnings for QBs, ayahuasca trips, and redemption stories, this season feels already feels like there’s magic in the air. Unless that magic is Matthew Stafford throwing to anyone other than Cooper Kupp. Though the defending Super Bowl Champs fell to the Central Valley’s own Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, that doesn’t mean that they still aren’t a force to be reckoned with. A great example of great teams getting embarrassed week 1 is last year’s Green Bay Packers.

After getting DOMINATED by famous Jameis Winston and the Saints, the Packers bounced back and ended the season being the number one seed in the NFC and finishing the season 13-3. Unlike the LA Rams, however, they do what seems to be the seasonal norm and that is to blow it in the playoffs. And while that loss did hurt, and words were shouted and things were thrown, we move on to the 2022 season. Where every team officially has a chance! The beginning of the NFL season gives every NFL fan something to look forward to every week, and that is Scott Hansen with NFL Redzone.

America’s sports sweetheart returns this Sunday with commercial-free NON STOP Action. From the classic OctoBox to the all-entrancing Witching Hour, Sundays have officially become awesome again. But it’s not just Sundays that are getting better, but your week overall. Monday Night Football and Thursday night football help propel your week and get you through the rough patches of your work week. Now I know what you’re thinking,

“Elliott it’s just football it’s not that important.” and to that I say…

“It’s much more than that.” (Okay I wouldn’t say that I’d be much more insulting.) Regardless it is true, that not just football but sports, in general, are much more than just a game.

Sports bring friends together, they give us something we can cheer for and believe in. Every year we get renewed hope. Opportunities to see family and friends with the green light to breakfast beers without judgment. Tailgating and road trips to watch your favorite team dominate a division rival. To brag about your team after a win and your friend’s team blows it. It’s seeing fans shirtless at a snow game, beer snakes in the stands, face-painted warriors, and mascots breaking it down. Hail Mary miracle throws, last minute missed field goals. Euphoric victories and crushing defeats. Sports can feel larger than life and in the good ol’ US of A, they very much can be. And it’s not just football that’s just getting started. The last three months of 2022 are going to be jammed packed with sports.

A list of things to come:

September 11: First Sunday of NFL season.

October 7: NHL Season Starts

October 7: Post-Season Baseball Starts

October 19: NBA Season Tip-Off

November 20: World Cup 2022 Kicks-Off

December 17: NCAA Bowl Season

The schedule is set and your calendars are marked! With all that, you can’t talk sports without a little Blind Bets. We fell off a little after college football but we are ready to bounce back for the start of the NFL. So what better way to start a season than with a 4 leg Parlay.

Ravens Vs Jets: Ravens ML. Jets are without starting QB and mom dater Zach Wilson, Lamar Jackson is playing for the biggest contract in NFL history. Ravens soar over the Jets.

Colts vs Houston: Colts ML. You’re gonna notice a trend here. For week 1 we’re playing it safe to get a feel for the teams. New Colts QB Matt Ryan is gonna need a get used to his new team and what better team to start with than the horrible Houston Texans.

49ers vs Bears: The pooper bowl, mainly because I genuinely despise these teams with an absolute passion. That said, the 49ers have a Super Bowl caliber roster and The Bears have been in hibernation for the last decade. 49ers crush.

Broncos vs Seahawks: Russel Wilson returns to Seattle after being traded to the Broncos. More and more stories are being released about how the Seahawks have mistreated Russ and with a new team poised to make some noise in the AFC, Expect him to torch these birds. A Monday night massacre.

4 games for a +196.

Just like that Blind Bets is looking to make a comeback and keep the positive record alive.

So here is a toast, to the beginning of the best time of the year. Grab yourself a tall boy, find that sweet spot on the couch, and enjoy the start of the ride…

Except for Cowboys or Bears fans, your ride is gonna suck, but you already know that.

FOOTBALL IS BACK.
