NFL Week 4 Blind Bets: The Indomitable Human Spirit

For those of you who listen every Friyay morning during “The Drew Show,” Drew and myself go over the betting lines of the major sporting events of the weekend. We call this segment Blind Bets where basically we make blind picks and run with them hoping to win. Before I continue I cannot stress this enough that WE DO NOT BET MONEY as it is illegal in the state of California. You know that is until a certain prop definitely passes because why is it even illegal? Nonetheless Blind Bets has become someone of a Friyay staple on the show and one I take a lot of pride prepping for. You would think that the universe or the Sisters of Fate would shine a light upon me…

Yeah you’d be wrong.

After starting my 2022 campaign winning a 4 game parlay, I have had to fight countless battles to just keep my record afloat. After getting decimated in week 2 I hoped for my luck to flip, sadly that flip has yet to come. Though breaking even is nothing to be necessarily sad about, it does give you the added value of stress just to survive. Breaking even actually gives you a loss in two ways. While you may not lose money, you lose years off your life from the stress of surviving the weekend’s set of games. You also lose confidence moving forward, and this is the most crushing loss. But what is a degenerate to do when their confidence is shot and their spirit wavering? Simply give up? Walk away and live to fight another day? There is only one thing you can do.

YOU GRIT THOSE TEETH AND DOUBLE DOWN.

You didn’t get into sports, let alone sports gambling, to play for a tie. You play to win the game. You cheer, you howl, you scream for that last-second field goal. You frantically pace back and forth in the living room hoping that the defense gives up a TD for your 52-point over to hit. You spend all week talking up your best bets with your degenerate friends in the “War Room.” And you truly believe in your 8-leg parlay because you’ve “done the research” and you can feel Lady Luck backing you up.

With this newfound drive and inspiration to succeed, I have picked four games for this week’s Blind Bets. From points galore to gritty smash-mouth divisional rival matchups, here are this week’s picks.

1: Cowboys vs Commanders: Commanders gave up 5 sacks on their first 5 offensive plays last week, 6 in their first 8 dropbacks. The Cowboys have a menacing pass rush led by Micah Parsons. We channel our inner Skip Bayless and pick them boys to cover the spread -3 to give their fans more false hope on the season.

2: Ravens vs Bills: Lamar Jackson is coming off a 5-TD performance and is home, Josh Allen is coming off a 400-yard game that he lost. Here’s some cool stats for you: The over is 9-3 in Lamar Jackson’s last 12 home games, The Ravens average 30PPG. Since the start of last season, when the Bills score less than 20 points (scored 19 last week) they average 35 points in their next game. We LOVE the over this week. Both defenses are banged up so expect big plays over the top. Over 51 points in a BARNBURNER IN BALTIMORE.

3: Jets vs Steelers: Arguably the blindest of blind bets I’m gonna take a true gamble and take the Jets to cover the spread at +3.5. Their offense doesn’t look completely broken like the Steelers and they get cougar hunter Zach Wilson back. This is a game Redzone isn’t gonna show much of and honestly, you’ll thank them for it. It’ll be gross but the Jets fly past the Steelers and cover.

4: Chiefs vs Bucs: Much like Tampa last week this is a pickem game. Even spread so it’s anyone’s game. Tom Brady has officially shown his age. While the Defense for Tampa has looked ELITE, the Chiefs are coming off a rough loss against the colts. They’ll bounce back and beat the injury-riddled Bucs.

Wait… do you hear that? It sounds like Skooly might be in the studio because WE GOT LONDON ON THE TRACK! Bonus play!

Vikings vs Saints: We hop across the pond for this game as it is being played in the good ol UK. The Saints have looked worse and worse as the season has gone on while the Vikings have shown weaknesses, but still look competent. I see a wacky and weird game like all London games, but I like the Vikings to cover the -2.5 spread.

Here is to not giving up and persevering through the unforgiving universe trying to hold our winners down!
