Artificial Intelligence to some is an exciting new endeavor with unlimited potential to help better mankind. Others see AI as our reckoning as we try to create sentient artificial life that will become self-aware and destroy its human creators. The year of 2023 is to some being seen as the “Dawn of AI.” Google teams are using it to help with their systems, Amazon has Alexa, Apple has Siri, and so on it goes. But what happens when AI gets introduced to the common man? Will they use it responsibly? Will they use it to better the lives of the people around them? Will they just abuse it for personal gain? If you answered yes to all of them, you’d be correct. AI is being used to help create art, help with writing, can help with research, and can even replicate voices.
Whether you feel the use of AI in the arts is ethical or not is a conversation for another day, because there is one thing that AI has given us in the past month or so that is taking social media platforms by storm. I am talking of course, about the “Presidents Playing Video Games.” It is exactly what you think it is, Former Presidents Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and current President Joe Biden wear headsets and stream playing video games together. Sometimes it’s Call Of Duty, sometimes it’s Overwatch 2, it can even be something as simple as Minecraft, but the three constants are those three presidents talking together.
To say I am obsessed with this trend is an understatement.
To see presidents riffing with one another and playing Fifa together is comedy gold. The presidents bicker, they argue, but sometimes, if you’re lucky, they actually get along and it is so weirdly wholesome that you honestly wish they actually had this kind of friendship in real life. The trio has even extended to other former presidents like George W. Bush or Bill Clinton, and stars/personalities like Drake, Joe Rogan, and Ben Shapiro. This has easily been the most entertaining meme on Tik Tok and Youtube this year. I understand many people are passionate about politics and it might be a taboo to talk about politics, but memeing out presidents I feel that almost feels li everyone can get behind.

And the list goes on and on. Now, will Deep Fakes become a potentially major issue, if they haven’t already, sure. Can AI be the downfall of us all? Maybe.
